Current Work
I am following the status of Lincoln’s overdue annual audits and the accounting work needed to bring financial reporting current, with particular attention to the remaining fiscal years and whether the Town’s accounting procedures provide the reliable information the Council needs.
Scope / Key Items
- Track the completion status and realistic timetable for the remaining overdue annual audits.
- Identify accounting cleanup or reconciliation work still required before each audit can be completed.
- Review whether current accounting systems, procedures, and financial reporting are adequate for municipal decision-making.
- Follow up on deficiencies or recommendations identified in prior audit work and determine whether corrective actions are documented.
- Improve the Council’s access to timely, understandable financial information.
Why It Matters
Annual audits and reliable financial reporting are basic accountability tools. The Council needs current financial records and documented controls to evaluate spending, future budgets, and long-term commitments with confidence.
Latest Update
The FY2021 audit has been completed. I am continuing to seek a clear timetable and accounting-status picture for the later fiscal years that remain part of the Town’s audit catch-up work.
