Current Work
I am reviewing Lincoln’s property-tax burden, assessment consistency, and the accuracy and completeness of taxable-property information so future tax decisions are based on a fair and reliable tax base.
Scope / Key Items
- Review assessment and revaluation information affecting residential and commercial taxpayers.
- Examine whether comparable properties are being assessed consistently.
- Identify missing, incomplete, or questionable assessment information that may require clarification.
- Continue organizing parcel, tax-card, GIS, and assessment information for better analysis.
- Explain how municipal, school, and county obligations combine to affect the property-tax bill.
Why It Matters
Property taxes should be calculated from accurate and consistently applied assessments. Better assessment information also improves budgeting, revenue forecasting, and public confidence in the tax system.
Latest Update
Property valuation and assessment source records—including the 2026 State Valuation Report, Proposed 2026 State Valuation, Real Estate Transfer Analysis, and 2024 Municipal Valuation Return—have been organized into a public reference library for further review.
Next Step
Continue comparing assessment information, document specific discrepancies or unanswered questions, and bring material issues forward for clarification or corrective action.
